Recruitment Advice

Recruitment week is all about finding yourself and embracing the entire experience. It’s important to remember that the girls rushing you at every sorority house are just as nervous as you are. We want you to like us as much as we like you:) The purpose of recruitment is to find an environment that you feel the most comfortable in. You should NEVER feel like you need to change who you are to fit in. Embrace each conversation, enjoy the entire experience and know you will end up exactly where you belong. The best way to find your forever sisterhood is by remaining true to your personality.

My one goal when I was going through recruitment was to find an authentic group of girls that pushed me to be the best version of myself. Go with your gut and do not let others influence your choice. Lots of people will try to tell you where they think you will fit in best, but this is YOUR decision. Nobody knows you better than YOU. Step outside of your comfort zone and be in the moment. Think about how each conversation makes you feel and which atmosphere feels most like home.

For those of you worried that your experience won’t be as rewarding because of virtual recruitment, don’t be. For years, women have joined sororities to create relationships, share experiences and make memories. This year is no exception. You will be given countless opportunities to get connected, socialize and meet women with common interests. Honestly, being the first group of women to be virtually recruited may make you bond faster than ever. This is a unique experience that nobody else has had. Embrace it. Enjoy the uncertainty, go with the flow and know that every house is working tirelessly to make sure you feel just as loved as every other member before you.

I can confidently say that my college experience would not be as joyful or memorable as it has been if I wouldn’t have chosen Chi Omega. The purpose of joining a sorority is to have forever friends and a support system that will be with you through the highs and lows of life. Remember that when you start to lose sight of why you decided to go through recruitment. This is your opportunity to be independent and carve out your own unique path. Most importantly, HAVE FUN! Recruitment week is a once in a lifetime opportunity and it goes by in the blink of an eye. Enjoy every single moment that each day brings.
